Elements
(Sep 11, 2023)

It started with a notion on the eve of Beltane 2023. It ended with an EP ready for release a few months later at Lughnasadh.

Beltane is a time for the ecstatic fertile union of male and female. Which got me thinking about the similarly transformative theme in the quest for the Alchemical Marriage. Which got me thinking about the elementals in occult and alchemical works. Which got me thinking about the individual elements of antiquity.

I imagined a magician, on a quest for self-mastery, beginning to work with the elements. They may be appalled at their own limitations at operating with Earth, Air, Fire and Water and need to shape shift and become one with the elemental beings of each of realm in order to become as one with it.

Within that unique and deeper ease with each of the elements, could lie the trigger for an even greater connection with the fifth element, Spirit. A transcendent higher element arising from, and containing echoes of, the classical elements. A sort of Elemental Marriage.

Here’s the soundtrack to that magickal journey. Available on Bandcamp and all the main streaming platforms.

Tracks:
1 Earth

2 Air

3 Fire

4 Water

5 Spirit

Cornwall Dreaming
(Mar 21, 2023)

Cornwall dreams as birds, ghosts and mythical creatures dance on winds blowing in from beyond the faerie isles out in the Atlantic. Mortals and wraiths wander cliff and beach and moor, cursed or blessed, as they confront their destinies. In a time out of time, a girl has been lost and buried in the sand for centuries. However, what is buried is not necessarily forgotten. The land meanwhile dreams on in this musical companion (available on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms) to my short story collection, also called Cornwall Dreaming, that is published on Amazon.

Tracks:
1 The Dog Who Buried The Sea (Redruth to Lundy via Trevose Head)

2 Coast To Coast (Gwithian to Fistral via Perranuthnoe)

3 The Tideline (Godrevy to Infinity)

4 The Lord’s Work (Scorrier to Gwennap)

5 Where Wild Winds Rush (Hawker’s Hut, Morwenstow to Perranporth)

6 Langarrow (Perranporth to Newquay)

Spirits of Place & Time
(Dec 12, 2016)

Contemporary music inspired by the landscape, zeitgeist and spirit of Britain from pre-history up to the present day, including eastward nods to the ancient civilisations that informed the development of the cultures of the British Isles.

Tracks:
1 Aquae Sulis (Goddess Vision)
In the hot springs where the Romans eventually built the city of Bath, bubbles from the Otherworld gave intoxicating Goddess-inspired visions of time and people to come.

2 Dozmary Drift
On Bodmin moor, where the elementals are restless, lies the mythical lake where Arthur returned Excalibur to the Otherworld. Drifting westwards to the Atlantic, the spirit of Cornwall remains rooted in legend, myth and a celebration of the life force.

3 Ska'd Midlands (Für H)
The West Midlands has its own unique part to play in the  musical and cultural heritage of Britain. Among many other things it was the home of the two-tone celebration of ska. It was also my ex-partner's place of birth.

4 Minoan Voyage
The Mediterranean has been a crucible for civilisations and cultures beyond that of classical Greece and Rome. One that calls strongly to me, the ancient Minoan civilisation of Santorini and Crete, may have ostensibly been destroyed by tsunami and volcanic eruptions, but it is hiding in plain sight today.

Available to buy on Bandcamp (with exclusive extra bonus track Southcoast Seahorses) and to stream on all main platforms.
