Lunar Seas

In the Sea of Dreams is a deep, rotating current that generates tides in the psychic as well as physical realms. It’s known as the Brock-Calvert Gyre, named after the Grand Admiral of the Hawkfleet, Dave Brock, and Captain of the Hawkwind, Robert Calvert.

On one of Hawkwind’s early dimension jumps, the ship was trapped in a two-dimensional version of the Earth’s moon. Brock and Calvert created a hallucinatory sea of dreams that added an infinite number of dimensions to reality. Thus, ensuring the escape of Hawkwind and the release of numinous tides that continue to impel sentient life-forms towards mystical states.

It is not known how much influence the Brock-Calvert Gyre has upon the other Lunar Seas, but its impact is expected to be both subtle and massive.

1 Rifts In Time.
The tick of the clock seems inexorable and relentless, but our experience of time isn’t always measured that way and sometimes the clock plays tricks on our ears and senses.

2 Fractal Heartbeats
Imagine the pulses at play between the main beats of your heart. Poised between exertion, rest, elation, and heart attack.

3 Wave Rider
Inside the tube, there’s the surfer and the constant thrum of surfboard fin biting into a rotating barrel of water. Sometimes the view is of open ocean. Other times it shrinks to a tube of water, blocking out the sound of wind and seagulls. It’s a fragile thing, but a place you wish could last for ever.

4 At The Centre Of It All
At the centre of everything lies mystical union and oneness. The collapsing of an infinite number of interstices into … an interstice.

5 Framed By Shade And Branches
Looking through the leafs and branches of a tree in the open countryside you might experience a rural idyll. But trees grow in all sorts of places. Transposed interstitial views might evoke nature in full-on lyrical romanticism, or something industrial. Or something else, altogether more nuanced.

6 Through The Eye Of A Needle
If you peer through the eye of the needle through which the rich man and the camel both have passed, you might see the mind of god going mad in the desert heat.

7 Generations.
Old and new recordings bridge many lives, focusing the past and present into a fragile now with nods to what lies ahead. A man who is now a grandad rediscovers his own grandparents in a sea of aunts and uncles. He recites poetry along with a version of himself whose voice has not yet broken. The veils between ancestral generations grow thin as he tries to frame this place for futures yet to be born.
